Whoops-a-daisy…..

May 22nd, 2008, posted in Simon

Hey all, Simon here from Buddahead. So as we are ramping up for the release of the new record, we are getting very excited. We are currently in the process of putting together some shows and hopefully will be seeing all of you very soon. It’s been pretty cool lately with our new Press Release that some of the blogs and podcasts have welcomed the new record and played some tunes of ours for their listeners, which is always flattering and helpful for a band like us (sans record label and such).

But it wouldn’t be a normal day in the Buddahead camp without a touch of awkwardness. So our buddy CC Chapman graciously set us up on his podcast Accident Hash (which all you podcasters should check out by the way) and due to the fact that we weren’t able to appear for a “live” interview, we recorded some interview blurbs and “radio send offs” for CC….(just imagine Toby doing his best Casey Kasem impression, only in James Earl Jones’ voice…..scary, i know). So in the spirit of the three of us being in the same room together and essentially having the recorder on Raman’s computer interviewing us, we got underway in spewing some insights and blurbs about making and recording the new record. And of course, as is par for the course, Toby couldn’t resist throwing a couple jabs in about me saying “ya know” a few too many times. I’m also occasionally guilty of the “like” effect, and my parents tend to wonder what all those years of education were for. So in the usual camaraderie of a bunch of guys who are around each other constantly, I responded with a very high brow and sophisticated string of obscenities to combat my bass playing cohort. This resulted in a few chuckles as we listened back to what we had recorded.

Now, in an effort to be “raw and edgy”, or just show the reality/immaturity of the band (or maybe just to get a cheap laugh out of CC), Raman left in the previously mentioned scholarly exchange. Upon hearing this I approached Raman…..he laughed and said CC thought everything sounded good and the end would just be edited out, as it was kind of an inside joke. I listen to the podcast a few days later only to hear the Buddahead interview end with my F’in and Blinding at the end, to which CC promptly came back on and said something to the effect of “whoa…..forgot about that F Bomb in there, meant to edit that out but forgot. I apologize to all our younger Homefrys…”. And so the show went on…..except I can’t recall the rest of tit, as I’d been knocked unconscious by a slap to my own forehead.

Simon

PS - Rest assured, I still like Toby……..most of the time.
